The only thing I ever seem to get relief from is unplugging the router for extended periods of time and redoing everything. Definitely try it without a case and see if that helps any as well as all the troubleshooting mentioned above. Wi-Fi is the way to go if you have access to it. All other phones (even Samsung) get connected.
If it doesn’t connect correctly on another smartphones then it’s a problem with the password or router itself. Everybodies phones and laptops worked except mine. Which will allow you to setup your Google account.
